Ever wonder what u/d/o and f/b/o mean?
Those little abbreviations actually mean the following:
u/d/t means "under declaration of Trust"
f/b/o is a little more intuitive and means "for and on behalf of"
So, when you transfer assets into your Trust you could say John and Jane Smith, Trustees of the Smith Family Revocable Trust u/d/t dated January 1, 2006 f/b/o John and Jane Smith.
You could also just say John and Jane Smith, Trustees of the Smith Family Revocable Trust dated January 1, 2006.
Either way, you now know what those two funny abbreviations mean.
