Student Loans Are Forgiven ... At Death.
Student loans are an interesting type of debt. It's not necessarily bad debt as it is for a good purpose. Interest rates and repayment plans are usually reasonable. But as debt goes, you cannot discharge your student loans by filing for bankruptcy. If you die, however, they are forgiven. Nice to know that some things can't follow you to the grave or crematorium.

I have to add a comment -- not all student loans fall into this category. For instance, private loans from banks usually do not. But federal loans such as a Perkins loan do. Contact your student loan originator to determine if it is forgiven if you pass away. This should not be a part of your estate plan to borrow money for school and never pay it back.
